Those three words often conjure up cringe-worthy images of cheesy teddy bears, cellophane wrapped carnations and over-priced greeting cards. It sucks that an occasion to celebrate love (in all forms) has been reduced to an anxiety-filled day of over consumption.
In my opinion, it doesn’t have to be that complicated…or that cliche. You can never go wrong with selecting a gift or activity that helps the one you love do something they are passionate about. If your Valentine is a graphic designer, here are a few gift ideas that will show her/him just how much you care:
1. An arsenal of tools to bring creative ideas to life
2. Gadgets to transform pen & paper sketches to digital work
3. Sketchbooks and journals for jotting down ideas
4. Colorful supplies for work spaces
5. A comfortable satellite office (aka the sofa)
6. The “prescription” to make design businesses a success
7. A day at an Art Museum
8. Words of encouragement
9. Time and space to work
I’m looking forward to having brunch with my husband and spending the afternoon checking out the Romance Noir exhibit at The Getty Center in Los Angeles. What are your plans?
