That “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” saying pretty much sums up my week. I’ve also heard it stated as “when life gives you lemons; add tequila”. Since it’s Friday, I may do the latter instead of the former.
Jurnee Smollet’s Ebony cover and spread hit the news stand this week. She looks amazing in the retro 70’s inspired photo shoot – the hairstyles and fashion are definitely on point!
The 70’s vintage feel also spilled into my workflow. I am designing a user interface with a retro look and feel. It’s a fun challenge to balance throwback aesthetics with modern usability conventions.
Jidenna’s new album, The Chief, has been on repeat in the studio the last few days. He has unique sound, impeccable style and the talent to oscillate between diverse music genres without missing a beat. Clearly, I’m a fan. I can’t pick a favorite song just yet but A Little Bit More, Bambi and Adaora are all front runners.
You know that great feeling you get when you find a book that is so good you don’t want to put it down? That’s how I feel about The Mothers by Brit Brennan. It’s so good that I could literally read it from cover to cover, but I am trying to pace myself because I don’t want it to end.
