Over the weekend I had a chance to see the movie Dope. The movie lived up to its title and stirred up strong nostalgia for all things 90’s. I will always have a soft spot for the era of bright colors, bold patterns, and sky-high hairstyles for both genders. A few of my favorite memories from the 90’s are listening to Jodeci, watching a Different World, wearing Cross Colours overalls (with on strap down)…and not having any bills!
As a designer I think I’ve always gravitated toward elements that embrace the duality of the 90’s. At one extreme, I love working with bright colors, bold patterns and chunky fonts and at the other end of the spectrum I love dark berry color palettes, grungy textures and scratchy fonts.

I couldn’t be happier that the design world is collectively paying homage to the 90’s. What do you like best about the 90s?
