I know that today is Halloween but ghosts, goblins, psycho clowns…I’m not here for any of that y’all. None of it!
It’s an open secret that I am not a fan of scary movies. I think the last scary movie I saw was the Blair Witch Project and let’s just say “it didn’t go too well“. One thing I’ve observed during the few scary movies that I have seen is that there are generally two reactions to scary things.
- Stay paralyzed in place
- Move fast
When I take an honest look at where I am falling short on certain goals, it usually has to do with letting fear paralyze my progress. Research and analysis can be beneficial, but they become detrimental when they continue indefinitely and prevent me from actually getting started on things. Analysis paralysis, no?
The next time I’m in the face of something that scares me (a big client, a new software application, working in a medium outside of my comfort zone) I won’t allow myself to be frozen by fear. I will choose to move fast and jump in without worrying about hypothetical situations. No fear.
This week I am committed to conquering my fears and not being haunted by “what if” scenarios.
What’s going on for you this week?
Monday Motivation is a quick mood board that I make to kick-start my work week. You can check out what “motivated” me in past weeks here.
